On Monday, S. Jaishankar, the External Affairs Minister, vehemently denied the charge by the Congress party that Pakistan had been given advance intimation before India conducted Operation Sindoor — the precision military attacks on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) which were conducted on May 7.
Clarifying the timing in a Consultative Committee Meeting (CCM) of the Ministry of External Affairs, Jaishankar said, "Pakistan was informed 30 minutes after terror hubs were struck."
He also stated that the Foreign Secretary was subsequently briefed, following which there was an official release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) then conveyed details of the strike to his counterpart in Pakistan.
Calling out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s assertions that India’s foreign policy had “collapsed” and that the country was being “hyphenated with Pakistan,” Jaishankar described these claims as “a dishonest misrepresentation of facts.”
Operation Sindoor was India's measured and controlled response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 innocent civilians. Nine terror launchpads in PoK and Pakistan were efficiently taken out within a mere 25 minutes of operation using precision-guided munitions and drone attacks in perfect coordination.
Pakistan responded in kind militarily by trying to bomb Indian cities with drones and artillery rounds, which were all successfully intercepted and pushed back by Indian defense forces.
Even though the two countries agreed on May 10 to a ceasefire, Pakistan violated the agreement in a matter of hours. India issued a stern warning that any future violation would only lead to "fierce retaliation.
While speaking in his Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showcased satellite images of the sites where terror camps were attacked, terming the action as "a picture of India's changing mindset, resolve and courage."
In order to counter global perceptions and address disinformation, India has sent seven all-party delegations to key international capitals to convey its stand on cross-border terrorism and the rationale for Operation Sindoor.
India's strong message is loud and clear: no more will terrorism be tolerated or dismissed, and the narrative will not be dictated by lies.
