Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, under pressure from Mahagathbandhan partners, conducted a caste survey, leaving him feeling trapped. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi claimed that the BJP provided Kumar with a way out as he returned to the NDA, dealing a blow to the opposition bloc. At a rally in Purnea, Gandhi asserted that Nitish Kumar's tendency to make a volte-face when under pressure should be noted, stating, "We do not need Nitish Kumar."

Referring to economic justice, Gandhi cited the example of 'makhana' (fox nuts) cultivation in Purnea, emphasizing the need for farmers to receive their due. The rally also addressed the ethnic situation in Manipur, where Gandhi expressed dismay, likening it to a civil war.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, denied permission to land his chartered flight, sent a video message to the rally. The event was also marked by the interception of drones by security personnel at the venue, Rangbhoomi Maidan.

Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Bihar continued from Purnea to Katihar, en route to Malda in West Bengal. The Yatra focuses on issues of social and economic justice.
