A day after Bihar Assembly’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, criticized BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul for his controversial Holi remarks and questioned his authority to issue such directives, the latter hit back with a pointed response. Taking a dig at the RJD leader, Bachaul stated, “Unlike his father, my father was never convicted or jailed.”
Bachaul, who represents the Bipsi Assembly constituency in Madhubani district, stirred controversy on Monday by suggesting that Muslims should remain indoors during Holi to avoid being coloured. He further stated that if they choose to step out, they should do so with a “big heart.”
His remarks have intensified political tensions in Bihar, sparking a heated debate across party lines.
