Mumbai: Massive rally taken out against Love Jihad, forced conversion

The rally was organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bajrang Dal, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and featured leaders and workers of these groups. The march began at Shivaji Park in Dadar and ended at Kamgar Maidan in Parel, covering a distance of over 4km.

A massive rally was held in Mumbai on Sunday by a group of activists against the concept of 'love jihad' and demanding the implementation of anti-conversion laws and a crackdown on land grabbing in the name of religion. 

The rally was organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Bajrang Dal, and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and featured leaders and workers of these groups. The march began at Shivaji Park in Dadar and ended at Kamgar Maidan in Parel, covering a distance of over 4km.

During the rally, activists shouted slogans against "love jihad" and called for anti-conversion laws and action against land grabbing in the name of religion. 

The rally was also attended by leaders and MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and members of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction. Police were deployed along the route of the march to prevent any incidents.

"Love jihad" is a term often used by activists to describe an alleged tactic used by Muslim men to lure Hindu women into religious conversion through marriage.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced last December that the government would study laws on "love jihad" implemented by other states and make a decision accordingly. 

He had also spoken about a "feeling" among legislators that "love jihad" instances were seen on a large scale in the state.
