Prime Minister Narendra Modi made history by becoming the first Prime Minister to visit the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, the revered birthplace of Lord Krishna.

During his visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the temple and received gifts from the priests, including a painting and an 'angavastram'. His presence was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The visit comes shortly after a significant development in which the Allahabad High Court granted approval for the construction plan of the Banke Bihari Temple corridor earlier in the week. This initiative, conceived by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, received the court's endorsement, clearing the way for the removal of encroachments impeding the corridor's construction.

Following his temple visit, Prime Minister Modi attended the Braj Raj Mahotsav, commemorating the 525th birth anniversary of Meera Bai.

Addressing the gathering, he expressed his joy at being in Braj and emphasized the historical connections between Gujarat, Rajasthan, and the Braj region. He highlighted how Lord Krishna became 'Dwarikadeesh' in Gujarat and how Meera Bai, originally from Rajasthan, found solace and divine love in Vrindavan.

The Prime Minister acknowledged Vrindavan as a culmination point for various spiritual traditions across the country. He reassured the audience of his commitment to developing the region, aiming to transform Braj into a spiritual hub.
