Mufti firmly rejected Omar Abdullah's dictate to abstain from fielding candidates in the Valley, stressing that she could not ignore the insult inflicted upon her workers. As the head of the alliance and a senior leader, she entrusted Farooq Abdullah with the responsibility of making just and reasonable decisions regarding candidate selection for the Lok Sabha seats.

Referring to Omar Abdullah's statement about observing PDP's conduct before considering an electoral alliance for the assembly elections, Mufti expressed her stance in response. Given the perception propagated by the NC that the PDP is a spent political force, Mufti asserted the necessity for her party to contest all three Lok Sabha seats in the Valley. She emphasized leaving the decision to the voters to determine the political hierarchy, rejecting the notion of being relegated to a lower position by the NC.
