Lok Sabha Polls 2024 Phase 1: Turnout set to touch 65.5%

The turnout among voters during the initial phase of the Lok Sabha elections is poised to hit 65.5 percent. This phase saw polling taking place across 102 constituencies spanning 21 states and Union territories, marking the commencement of the seven-phase electoral process on Friday.

Over 16.63 crore individuals, including 8.4 crore men, 8.23 crore women, and 11,371 third-gender voters, were eligible to cast their votes during this phase. Notably, there were approximately 35.67 lakh first-time voters, alongside 3.51 crore voters falling in the age bracket of 20-29 years.

Comparatively, the voter turnout in the first phase of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections stood at 69.43 percent, with a total of 91 seats going to polls during that period. The EC is expected to officially release the final figures on Sunday, offering a comprehensive overview of the voter participation across constituencies.
