Legal Action Against Farooq Abdullah for 1987 Election Rigging: Key Step for Kashmir Peace, Says Sajad Lone

Addressing reporters during a party event, Sajad underscored the profound impact of the 1987 election rigging, attributing it to the prolonged "bloodshed" witnessed in Kashmir over the past three decades. "I firmly believe that initiating legal proceedings against Farooq Abdullah, along with Congress leaders and bureaucrats implicated in the manipulation of the 1987 polls, holds paramount importance," he asserted. Sajad questioned the disregard for the countless lives lost, emphasizing, "Did that one lakh lives not matter?"

In a significant statement, Sajad Gani Lone, the President of the People’s Conference (PC), emphasized the imperative nature of registering a case against NC President Farooq Abdullah and others allegedly involved in rigging the 1987 assembly elections. Criticizing the National Conference (NC), Sajad accused its MPs of neglecting the plight of Kashmiris in the Parliament, even allegedly displaying indifference during the abrogation of Article 370. "For 28 years, they have been present in the Parliament. Yet, have they ever advocated for the aspirations and rights of Kashmiris? Instead, NC exploited parliamentary proceedings to evade accountability for their actions," he alleged.

Furthermore, Sajad condemned Omar Abdullah, accusing him of downplaying the atrocities against Kashmiris during his tenure as foreign minister.
