Kamal Nath's Firm Commitment to Chhindwara Ahead of Elections

Having served as Member of Parliament for nine consecutive terms from Chhindwara, currently represented by his son Nakul Nath, Kamal Nath reiterated his stance during discussions regarding the possibility of contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jabalpur.

Long-standing Congress stalwart and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, asserted on Monday his unwavering commitment to his constituency, Chhindwara, regardless of any circumstances.

Having served as Member of Parliament for nine consecutive terms from Chhindwara, currently represented by his son Nakul Nath, Kamal Nath reiterated his stance during discussions regarding the possibility of contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Jabalpur.

Arriving at his stronghold in Chhindwara on Monday, Kamal Nath embarked on a series of meetings with party cadres in preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, spanning the next week.

Addressing inquiries about his potential candidacy in Jabalpur, the senior Congress leader firmly stated, “There are no intentions to contest from Jabalpur in the Lok Sabha elections at present. I remain committed to Chhindwara without compromise.”

Notably, Kamal Nath's son, Nakul Nath, the sole Congress MP from the state, has already declared his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the family's political bastion of Chhindwara, although the party has yet to officially nominate its candidate for the constituency.

In response to certain Congress members defecting to the BJP, Kamal Nath reiterated his stance that “everyone has the freedom to make their own decisions.”

“Suresh Pachouri's decision to join the BJP was his own,” he added.

On Saturday, Pachouri, along with former Congress MLA Sanjay Shukla, shifted allegiance to the BJP. Subsequently, on Monday, two more former Congress MLAs, Arunoday Choube and Shivdayal Bagri, followed suit.

Regarding Deepak Joshi, who was welcomed into the Congress fold by Kamal Nath before the November 2023 Assembly elections, and his potential return to the BJP, the Congress leader remarked, “He was affiliated with them previously.”
