The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday put a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any information that would lead to the arrest of the Pakistani nationals and local Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack.
The police announced that a reward will be given for information leading to the arrest of Adil Hussain Thoker, Ali Bhai, and Hashim Musa, who were accused of involvement in the April 22 attack on foreign tourists at Pahalgam's Baisaran area.
During the attack, 26 civilians were killed, of which 25 were tourists and one local, in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam. Police have initiated several operations throughout the Union Territory, including the massive ongoing anti-terror operation in the Pahalgam area, to arrest those involved in the attack.
The operations are being supported by high-level technology, such as drones, helicopters, electronic devices, and sniffing dogs, and it has been given clear instructions to security personnel to track down the terrorists behind the bloodbath. Also, a soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire with the terrorists in the Basantgarh region of Udhampur district. Independent operations are also in progress in Poonch and Kulgam districts.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the ground zero of the attack on Wednesday, delivering a strong message to the perpetrators of the massacre.
Following the terror attack, India acted quickly, suspending the Indus Water Treaty signed between the two nations in 1960, closing the Attari border, and ordering Pakistani nationals in India to vacate within 48 hours. India also cut its High Commission in Pakistan staff by 70% and declared the Pakistani military attaché persona non grata.
The Union government has asked for an all-party meeting in the evening to update political parties on the developments after the Pahalgam terror attack.
