Investigation Initiated: The Demise of Mukhtar Ansari

Umar Ansari, son of the late gangster-turned-politician, has raised allegations suggesting that his father was subjected to what he claims to be "slow poisoning" during his time in prison. Similar assertions were echoed by Afzal Ansari, brother of Mukhtar Ansari and the Member of Parliament representing Ghazipur. However, authorities have refuted these allegations.

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a magisterial investigation into the demise of Mukhtar Ansari, as confirmed by a government spokesperson. This inquiry will be carried out by a team consisting of three members.

According to Ansari's account, he began experiencing pain in his nerves and limbs after consuming food on March 19, leading him to believe that he had ingested some form of poisonous substance.

While Ansari's post-mortem is currently underway, authorities have ensured that the process is being meticulously documented through videography. Additionally, his viscera will be preserved if deemed necessary, as stated by the spokesperson.

Preparations are being made for Ansari's cremation at the Kalibagh burial ground in Mohamadabad, Ghazipur district. A district official mentioned that the convoy transporting Ansari's body will commence its journey following Friday prayers.

To maintain law and order, Section 144 has been enforced throughout Uttar Pradesh, prohibiting large gatherings. Furthermore, additional security personnel have been deployed in districts such as Banda, Mau, Ghazipur, and Varanasi.

Mukhtar Ansari was transferred from the district jail to the Rani Durgavati Medical College in Banda after being found in an unconscious state. Despite the efforts of a team of nine doctors, he succumbed to cardiac arrest.

Earlier in the week, Ansari had been hospitalized for approximately 14 hours due to complaints of abdominal pain.

Hailing from a lineage rooted in India's struggle for independence, Mukhtar Ansari's family background includes his grandfather's presidency of the Indian National Congress in 1927.
