According to the Election Commission, Tamil Nadu boasts a surprising demographic of voters, with a remarkable 55 individuals surpassing the age of 120. Among them, there are 27 men and 28 women, showcasing a diverse spectrum of longevity.
Furthermore, the state houses a significant number of elderly voters, with 2,06,574 individuals aged between 90 to 99 years. Among them, 99,439 are men and 1,07,128 are women. Additionally, there are 14,44,851 voters aged above 80, indicating a considerable portion of the electorate comprising senior citizens.
In terms of overall voter demographics, Tamil Nadu's electorate stands at an impressive 6,23,33,925 individuals. While male voters account for 3,06,05,793, females outnumber them slightly, constituting 3,17,19,665 of the voting populace. Moreover, the state also embraces diversity with 8,467 third-gender voters exercising their democratic rights.
Interestingly, the age group of 40-49 emerges as the largest cohort of voters, totaling 1,37,96,152 individuals, followed closely by the 30-39 age group, comprising 1,29,00,263 voters.
Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo emphasized the inclusivity of the electoral process, noting that the commission received approximately seven lakh requests from individuals aged above 85 to cast their votes from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, he highlighted the requests from differently-abled persons, underlining the commitment to accommodating diverse needs within the democratic framework.
