India has been ranked as the world's third most powerful nation, after China and Japan, by the Lowy Institute in Sydney. Welcoming India joining this league of select nations, Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri attributed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the nation to the table of superpowers in the globe. "India's rise is no accident," said Puri while welcoming the rise of the country.
That is the direct result of the aggressive diplomatic strategy pursued by Prime Minister Modi along with his bold ambitions toward reshaping India's place in the world. Had it not been for him, India would still be lagging; but today, we are witnessing a nation on the threshold of superpower status.
The latest Asia Power Index released by the Sydney-based Lowy Institute said, "India, long considered a regional aspirant to superpower status, has at last begun to flex its muscles on the regional stage." "India's power in Asia is growing while that of China is plateauing despite its continued economic and military growth," the report said.
According to the Lowy Institute report, notable gains are in terms of Economic Capability, Diplomatic Activity, and Future Resources, reflecting a demographic dividend that can further fuel the country's upward trajectory. Hardeep Puri told CNN-News18, "It's PM Modi's tireless effort on the world stage that has put India back on the map.". He took the policy of nonalignment by India and transformed it into a formidable tool to extract concessions in international diplomacy." "Whereas countries such as China are aging and slowing down, under PM Modi, India has the wherewithal and the leadership to accede the throne as the new kingmaker of Asia." "Those who doubt Modi's role in the rise of India need to look only at the facts. India's trajectory is up and world can't ignore it," he added. The senior BJP leader also took a shot at previous Congress governments and said, "The country was left rudderless by the previous government's indecisive and directionless approach. They said the Indian economy will be third largest by 2043 and PM Modi is guaranteeing it will be so in his third term itself.". After all, just yesterday the IMF was predicting that by 2027 India is going to be the third largest economy. Under these fellows' leadership, India would never have reached the top three on any power index.
