The ongoing debate between Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal over the issue of Yamuna river water quality has taken a heated turn.

Saini challenged Kejriwal to drink the Yamuna water near Rajghat in Delhi, echoing Kejriwal's previous stunt where he drank water from the river near the Haryana-Delhi border to highlight concerns about water quality.

Saini defended Haryana’s position, asserting that the state provides clean water to Delhi. He criticized Kejriwal’s administration for failing to make the Yamuna clean, a promise that Kejriwal had made during his first election campaign. Saini also lashed out at Kejriwal's government for its alleged failure to ensure clean water supply within Delhi, blaming it on the AAP's policies and corruption.

The controversy intensified following Kejriwal’s accusations that the BJP-led Haryana government was discharging industrial waste into the river, which Kejriwal claimed was "poisoning" the water.

Saini dismissed these allegations as political rhetoric, asserting that the people of Delhi were dissatisfied with Kejriwal’s leadership and would hold him accountable in the upcoming elections.

Saini also claimed that the Central Government had allocated substantial funds for the installation of sewage treatment plants (STPs) in Delhi, but alleged that the funds were misused and no STPs were built.
