Hardeep Puri Urges Kejriwal's Resignation as Delhi CM, Stresses Moral Responsibility

Puri expressed, "His persistence as the CM while being incarcerated reflects sheer shamelessness. It's about time he resigns and allows someone else to helm the administration in Delhi."

In a firm stance, Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, asserted on Tuesday that Arvind Kejriwal must promptly step down as Delhi Chief Minister, taking moral responsibility.

Puri expressed, "His persistence as the CM while being incarcerated reflects sheer shamelessness. It's about time he resigns and allows someone else to helm the administration in Delhi."

This statement came after the Delhi High Court dismissed Kejriwal's plea contesting his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the subsequent remand order issued by a trial court regarding the excise policy case.

"Arvind Kejriwal received nine summons from the Enforcement Directorate spanning from November 2023 to March 2024. However, he skillfully evaded these notices for the past six months using various pretexts," remarked Hardeep Puri.

Puri emphasized, "The law has finally caught up with Kejriwal's dubious actions of accepting kickbacks to alter the liquor policy, all while Delhi was grappling with the Covid crisis in September 2020."

Further, he pointed out that during the hearing of Kejriwal's plea in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, the court firmly upheld his arrest and subsequent detention.

"Kejriwal has allied himself with the very individuals he initially opposed during the anti-corruption movement in 2011 with Anna Hazare Ji. This exposes his duplicity," added the Minister.
