The National Conference's president and incumbent MP representing Srinagar, Farooq Abdullah, will not be participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections due to health reasons, the party announced on Wednesday.
Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the NC, revealed this decision during a party gathering held in Rawalpora, situated on the outskirts of the city.
Omar stated that his father, Farooq Abdullah, had sought permission from senior party members, including the general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar, to refrain from contesting in the elections this time due to health concerns.
He emphasized that it is now the responsibility of the party to nominate the most suitable candidate from the constituency. Omar expressed hope that the voters would extend their support to ensure the success of the chosen candidate, thereby enabling them to represent the people's voice effectively in Delhi.
