EC Imposes Ban on Exit Polls from April 19th to June 1st

Issued on Thursday, the notification explicitly states that in accordance with the Representation of the People Act, the display of any election-related material, including the outcomes of opinion polls or other surveys, on any electronic media platform will be banned during the 48-hour window leading up to the conclusion of the polling process.

The Election Commission has released a notification prohibiting the conducting, publishing, or publicizing of exit polls from 7:00 am on April 19 until 6:30 pm on June 1, coinciding with the voting period for the Lok Sabha and four state assembly elections.

In addition to the Lok Sabha elections, the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim are also slated for electoral contests.

Furthermore, bye-elections for 25 assembly constituencies across 12 states will be conducted during this same timeframe.
