Delhi Sees 19.95% Voter Turnout by 11 AM

Over 19 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first four hours of Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday.

Till 11 am, 19.95 per cent voters have cast their votes as per data with the Election Commission.

The highest voting percentage was 24.87 per cent that was reported by the North East district and at the constituency level, Babarpur was reporting the highest figure of 31.30 percent.
Central Delhi district was witnessing the lowest vote percentage with the figure standing at 16.46 percent in which Karol Bagh had only 11 percent of its voters casting votes.

Data for East Delhi district recorded 20.03 per cent, New Delhi recorded 16.80 percent polling, North 18.63 percent, Northwest 19.75 percent, Shahdara 23.30 percent, South 19.75 percent, South East 19.66 percent, South West 21.90 percent and West 17.67 percent, among others.
There are 1.56 crore eligible voters in Delhi.

The poll is being held at 13,766 booths spread across the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi to seal the fate of 699 contestants in a contest that can give the capital's political scenario a new shape.

The voter turnout in the 2020 assembly polls was recorded at 62.59 percent while only 56 percent of the voters turned up to vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

President Droupadi Murmu, vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar, Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, Union ministers S Jaishankar and Hardeep Singh Puri, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal were among the early voters.
