According to the Election Commission of India, at 9:50 am on Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party is now leading in 37 Assembly seats and the Aam Aadmi Party is already ahead in 20 Assembly seats.
Counting for the Delhi Assembly elections have started at 8 am in the morning in this national capital where AAP, BJP are keenly contesting for the right to form this government.
Voting for all 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly took place on Wednesday, February 5, and several candidates in the fray visited nearby temples to offer their prayers ahead of the results.
According to the early trends, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is leading from the New Delhi Assembly seat, whereas BJP's Parvesh Verma is trailing.
The BJP has also been given a lead in several other constituencies; but these are pretty early trends and a clear picture is expected to emerge by noon.
In Bijwasan, the Assembly constituency, BJP's Kailash Gahlot was leading; AAP's Surender Bhardwaj is trailing.
Greater Kailash: AAP's Saurabh Bhardwaj is ahead; BJP's Sikha Roy is trailing.
In addition, in RK Puram BJP candidate Anil Kumar and in Delhi Cantt BJP candidate Bhuvan Tanwar were reported to be leading in their constituencies.
According to the exit polls, it is going to be the return of the BJP in Delhi after 27 years. The party will land below the majority mark comfortably with 36 votes and might send home extra 10-15 seats and dispose of the current ruling Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP.
The Congress, however, is projected to bag only 0-3 seats at maximum. The election results can be checked on the official website of ECI. Delhi Assembly poll 2025 had been conducted through a single-phase voting process on February 5.
According to the Election Commission data, about 60.54 per cent voter turnout was registered after the Delhi Assembly election, with the North East district recording the highest voting percentage of 66.25 and the South East Delhi district showing the lowest of 56.40 percent.
The AAP and BJP are the contention heavyweights in the Delhi poll 2025, with AAP eyeing a third consecutive full term in Delhi.
In the 2020 Assembly elections, AAP had dominated by winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured eight seats. The Congress, which ruled Delhi for 15 years, failed to open its account in the last two Assembly polls and is predicted to perform similarly this time.
Exit poll results for the Delhi election were released on Wednesday evening after the conclusion of voting for the Assembly poll. Most exit polls projected a comfortable win for the BJP in the Delhi Assembly election, while the incumbent AAP is predicted to fall short of achieving a hattrick. Exit polls also indicated another rout for the Congress.
The counting will begin with postal ballots, including the votes from government officials who are on election duty, service voters, and the elderly or the disabled, who have exercised their option for postal voting.
Once the postal ballots are counted, the EVMs would be opened, and the results tallied in several rounds. This is expected to go on throughout the day, with the results of the various constituencies coming out at intervals.
Regularly, vote trends would be updated by the Election Commission that would make clear trends for both parties. Well before Saturday noon, voting trends majorly can give a much clearer idea as to who among the candidates can probably emerge a winner.
