A Delhi court on Wednesday extended the judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and BRS leader K. Kavitha in relation to the excise policy case.
The accused, who were presented via video conferencing from Tihar Jail as their previous judicial custody expired, had their custody extended by Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court. The judicial custody for the CBI case was extended until August 9, while custody in the money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was extended until August 13.
Earlier this week, the Delhi High Court reserved its decision on a bail plea submitted by CM Kejriwal concerning the CBI's corruption case. The chargesheet came on the same day when CBI filed the chargesheet before a special court, featuring AAP leader and other accused.
In the case of money laundering, AAP and its national convenor, Arvind Kejriwal, were arraigned as accused parties in the prosecution complaint earlier filed by ED.
In the ED case, the Supreme Court had granted temporary bail to CM Kejriwal on July 12. He was arrested by the CBI, hence despite this, he remained behind bars.
