Delhi CM Kejriwal Faces Extended Judicial Custody in CBI Case Until July 25

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of the Rouse Avenue Court issued this ruling as the previous judicial custody period came to an end. Additionally, the court instructed the ED to provide a copy of the prosecution complaint to both CM Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Hours after the Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case involving the Enforcement Directorate (ED), a court in Delhi on Friday extended his judicial custody in a separate corruption case related to the alleged liquor policy scam until July 25.

Last week, after reviewing the ED's complaint, Judge Baweja had ordered CM Kejriwal to appear in court on July 12.

The ED filed its eighth charge sheet on May 17, officially naming Kejriwal and the AAP as accused parties in the case.

Earlier that same day, the Supreme Court had ordered CM Kejriwal's release on interim bail, sending his plea regarding his arrest and subsequent remand by the ED to a larger bench for a definitive ruling on the legal questions involved.

Despite this bail order, CM Kejriwal remains unable to leave jail due to his ongoing custody in the CBI case. His applications for bail and to contest his arrest by the CBI are still pending with the Delhi High Court.
