Conspiracy to topple Delhi govt, 7 AAP MLAs offered Rs 25 crore to quit party, says CM Arvind Kejriwal

In response, the Delhi BJP vehemently rejected these allegations and challenged the AAP to disclose the names of the MLAs and individuals who purportedly approached them with the offer.

On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made a bold claim, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has allegedly offered Rs 25 crore each to seven of its MLAs in Delhi to entice them to quit the party. The AAP further contended that the BJP has issued threats to topple the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi.

In response, the Delhi BJP vehemently rejected these allegations and challenged the AAP to disclose the names of the MLAs and individuals who purportedly approached them with the offer.

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener, took to 'X' to announce that seven of his party's MLAs had been contacted by unknown individuals. He warned that arrests of AAP members could be imminent. According to Kejriwal, the callers claimed to be in touch with 21 AAP MLAs, promising them Rs 25 crore and a BJP ticket each for future elections after the alleged overthrow of the Delhi government.

Kejriwal stated that all seven AAP MLAs declined the offer and accused attempts to have him arrested in connection with an alleged liquor scam as part of a conspiracy to destabilize the AAP government in Delhi. Despite several past attempts, Kejriwal emphasized that all conspiracies over the past nine years to topple the AAP government had failed.

At a subsequent press conference, Delhi minister Atishi alleged that the BJP had initiated 'Operation Lotus 2.0' in Delhi, claiming a similar unsuccessful attempt last year.

Delhi BJP secretary Harish Khurana, refuting the allegations, challenged Atishi to reveal the names of the contacted MLAs and the individuals behind the offer. He accused the AAP of attempting to divert attention from Kejriwal's failure to appear for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the alleged liquor scam.
