Congress Can Never Uphold Ambedkar's Ideals and Policies, Mayawati

In her X post, Mayawati asserted that Congress has never truly respected Ambedkar's legacy. She stressed that, no matter what programs the party holds in his name, they are only political maneuvers.

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati attacked Congress party on Tuesday, claiming the party was being unfaithful to Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's visions. Her declaration came after the controversial statement given by Congress leader Udit Raj, who had allegedly threatened her with murder.

In her X post, Mayawati asserted that Congress has never truly respected Ambedkar's legacy. She stressed that, no matter what programs the party holds in his name, they are only political maneuvers. She has written in Hindi, "The Congress party that has diluted Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's humanitarian movement for Dalits and Bahujans' dignity and rights during his life and later cannot align itself with his thoughts in any way. Regardless of the number of schemes they may launch under banners such as 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Mandal, Jai Samvidhan', the Baba Saheb's people know the reality and cannot be deceived."

Mayawati also cautioned the Bahujan Samaj against opportunists in the community who use the cause for self-interest. She warned that political turncoat Dalits utter false things to appease their political masters and need not be paid heed to because they have no idea about the movement for "social change and economic liberation."

The controversy erupted after Udit Raj made a provocative statement at an event in Lucknow, saying that Mayawati had "strangled the social movement" and it was time to "strangle her." His remarks sparked a public outcry, raising concerns over Mayawati’s security.

In reaction, BSP leader Akash Anand, nephew of Mayawati, called for immediate legal action against Udit Raj. He wrote on X, "I request @uppolice to arrest these thugs in 24 hours and initiate strict legal proceedings, otherwise the Bahujan youth of the nation will not keep quiet. I know how to give them a lesson."

Anand also attacked Udit Raj, calling him a political opportunist who cares only about his own career. He said, "Udit Raj is well known for switching parties for personal interests. His interest in the Bahujan Movement is to advance his political interests, not for the welfare of the community."

Udit Raj's words were condemned as unacceptable by Anand and he stressed that being a young Bahujan Mission soldier, he was aware of its goals better than Raj. He called the threats made to Mayawati as very disturbing, considering she was instrumental in the social and economic uplift of crores of Dalits and the downtrodden.
