The Congress declared its candidate for the Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday: Raj Babbar, a veteran politician and erstwhile actor.
A seasoned politician with a track record, having represented Firozabad in UP twice in the Lok Sabha, Raj Babbar has the experience and political astuteness that he brings to the table.
This fills the list in all nine seats the Congress is contesting from Haryana.
Countering this move, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded the sitting MP and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh from the same constituency.
On the other hand, the Jannayak Janata Party has fielded Haryanvi folk musician Rahul Yadav, popularly known as Fazilpuriya, who hopes to cash in on the Ahirwal community majority of this region.
Gurgaon Lok Sabha constituency covers areas of the neighboring Nuh and Rewari districts along with Gurugram. It is a crucial constituency from a political standpoint.
Rao Inderjit Singh had to his credit an impressive 8,81,546 votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a far cry ahead of his nearest rival, Congress nominee Captain Ajay Singh Yadav, who managed 4,95,290 votes.
