Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Inspires India’s Path to Strength, Self-Reliance, and Prosperity, PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his 395th birthday, marking his great legacy of courage and leadership.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also offered his respects, terming Shivaji Maharaj as a true nation builder.

“The life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ji, who proclaimed ‘Hindavi Swarajya,’ was a confluence of ethics, duty, and piety. He dedicated his life to protecting Sanatan self-respect by fighting against fundamentalist invaders. He will always be remembered as a nation builder,” Shah wrote on X.

Echoing similar thoughts, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized Shivaji Maharaj’s steadfast commitment to justice and governance.

I pay respects to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his Jayanti. His unparalleled bravery, devotion to justice, and strong commitment to the well-being of the people keep motivating us. His legacy of unselfish service, integrity, and tenacity will lay the foundation for future generations for prosperity and peace," Singh wrote on X.

Born on 19th February, 1630, at Shivneri Fort in Pune, Shivaji Maharaj was a great warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire. He is one of the most renowned personalities in Indian history.

In 1674, following a string of intense battles with the Mughals, he formally founded the Maratha Empire in western India. His reign was marked by tactical military gains, a cost-effective administrative system, and liberal civil policies that immensely benefited the population.

Shivaji Jayanti is a remembrance of his invaluable services to the Maratha Empire and his enduring impact on Indian history.
