Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday emphasized the importance of framing the party's Lok Sabha poll campaign around its initiatives aimed at uplifting the underprivileged and fostering the nation's development while also enhancing its global stature. He underscored that securing 370 seats in the upcoming elections would serve as a fitting tribute to the party's esteemed ideologue, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He made these remarks during a meeting with the BJP's national office-bearers in New Delhi.
Mookerjee had vehemently opposed Article 370, which granted special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir. In August 2019, the Modi government took the decisive step of abrogating this article.
Modi urged every booth worker to concentrate on their respective polling stations and strive to secure at least 370 additional votes for the party compared to the 2019 elections.
According to BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde, Modi cautioned party members against getting sidetracked by irrelevant emotional issues that the opposition might raise during the polls. Instead, he urged them to stay focused on issues pertaining to development, welfare policies for the marginalized, and India's ascending global position.
Tawde disclosed that the party is gearing up to launch a comprehensive outreach campaign targeting beneficiaries of various central government schemes starting from February 25.
Reflecting on his extensive tenure in governance, which spans over 23 years, including more than 12 years as Gujarat's chief minister, Modi proudly asserted that there has been no allegation of corruption leveled against him or his administration. He described this period as one marked by both accusation-free governance and significant developmental strides, highlighting it as a unique instance in Indian political history.
