The BJP on Friday retained the Bageshwar Assembly seat in Uttarakhand by defeating Congress with over 2,000 votes.
BJP candidate Parwati Das defeated Congress' Basant Kumar by 2,321 votes.
After the win, she expressed gratitude to the people of Bageshwar for her victory.
With the BJP retaining the seat, party workers are celebrating the win.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated Das and thanked people for reposing their faith in the BJP.
Taking to social media, the chief minister posted in Hindi, "The people of Bageshwar have voted for the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the policies and public welfare schemes of the state government."
"It is a tribute to former state minister Chandan Ram Das. Works envisioned by him will be completed," he said.
