Upendra Singh Rawat, a Member of Parliament representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, announced his decision to withdraw from the forthcoming general elections following the circulation of an alleged explicit video. Rawat, the incumbent MP from Barabanki, was initially included in the BJP's initial candidate list for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

In response, Rawat vehemently denied the authenticity of the video, attributing its dissemination to malicious intent aimed at besmirching his reputation. He lodged a formal complaint against those responsible for spreading the fabricated video.

Taking to social media platform 'X', Rawat expressed his distress over the situation, denouncing the video as an edited creation produced through DeepFake AI technology. He underscored his determination to clear his name, urging the national party leadership to initiate an investigation into the matter. Additionally, he declared his decision to abstain from participating in any electoral contest until his innocence is unequivocally established.
