BJP Demonstrates in Delhi Demanding Kejriwal's Resignation Amid Corruption Allegations

The BJP intensified its attack on Kejriwal on two specific fronts: the "Sharab" case related to the excise policy and the "Sheeshmahal" case concerning the renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence.

The Delhi chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) escalated its criticism against the jailed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, insisting on his resignation following his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Launching the "Sharab se Sheeshmahal" initiative from Connaught Place, the heart of the national capital, the Delhi BJP brought together senior party leaders, led by state President Virendra Sachdeva, along with Lok Sabha election candidates, MLAs, and councillors, in a protest directly aimed at Kejriwal.

The protest echoed with slogans condemning Kejriwal's purported involvement in corruption and scandals during his tenure at the helm of the AAP-led Delhi government.

A scaled-down replica of the Chief Minister's official residence was prominently displayed outside Palika Market in Connaught Place, featuring miniature alcohol bottles embellished with images of Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Sanjay Singh.

Throughout the day, BJP activists distributed leaflets condemning corruption to commuters exiting metro stations.

"The current government in Delhi is mired in internal discord. The alcohol scandal is undeniable, known to the entire party, yet they refuse to acknowledge it; instead, they deflect blame onto each other," remarked the Delhi BJP Chief, suggesting that the Kejriwal-led party should collectively acknowledge and rectify corruption issues rather than resorting to collective fasting.

Shazia Ilmi criticized the fasting undertaken by the Aam Aadmi Party, branding it as a ploy to shield corrupt individuals.

"I feel regretful that we once supported such individuals during their inception. However, it's disheartening to witness Kejriwal's deep entanglement in corruption. He lavishly spent Rs 52 crore on his palace under the guise of serving the common man, yet neglected the needs of Delhi's citizens. The memory of the COVID-19 crisis sends chills down our spine. How could Kejriwal rest peacefully in his palace while people suffered?" questioned Ilmi.

Kamaljeet Sehrawat, BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from West Delhi, highlighted the disparity between the lack of essential services reaching every household in Delhi and the widespread opening of alcohol shops.

"The lavishness of Arvind Kejriwal's palace astonishes everyone. It's incomprehensible to the common people how someone who failed to provide basic necessities during the Covid crisis now resides in a palace worth crores," she remarked.
