BJP Demands Probe Into Kejriwal’s ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Over Lavish Bungalow Renovation

This comes after CPWD filed a factual report claiming possible building code violations for a 40000-square-yard mansion. CVC has therefore requested that CPWD carry out a thorough investigation into claims that building norms were floated to construct it.

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) ordered an investigation into the renovations at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwals home 6 Flagstaff Bungalow on February 13.

This comes after CPWD filed a factual report claiming possible building code violations for a 40000-square-yard mansion. CVC has therefore requested that CPWD carry out a thorough investigation into claims that building norms were floated to construct it.

The rebuilt bungalow served as Arvind Kejriwals official residence during his tenure as Delhi Chief Minister from 2015 until October 2024 when he left the position due to BJP criticism over corruption allegations. There was no immediate response from Kejriwal or the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding the issue.

The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) took note of his two previous complaints according to BJP leader Vijender Gupta who said on Saturday that the CVC has now ordered a thorough investigation after requesting factual reports from the Public Works Department (PWD).

For more than two years and especially during the Assembly election campaign the BJP harshly criticized Kejriwal accusing him of corruption and pointing to irregularities in the bungalows reconstruction opulent interiors and expensive fixtures and household goods.

The party frequently claimed that Kejriwal illegally annexed nearby government properties in order to turn the bungalow into an ultra-luxurious Sheesh Mahal.

The last two elections in Delhi were won by the AAP which is led by Arvind Kejriwal in 2015 and 2020. Prior to the AAP the Congress led by the late Sheila Dikshit was in charge of Delhi for 15 years. After 27 years the BJP took over Delhis government.
