West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose has penned a letter to the state administration, pressing for the immediate arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan, the elusive Trinamool Congress leader from Sandeshkhali, implicated as the mastermind behind the assault on ED and CAPF personnel.

This communication, forwarded via email, reached the state secretary on Monday night and was brought to the attention of state officials on Tuesday morning.

In addition to urging Shahjahan's arrest, the Governor's missive mandates the initiation of an inquiry into the recent incident in Sandeshkhali where miscreants reportedly snatched a child from her mother's arms and callously flung her. The matter has garnered attention from the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

The significance of the Governor's letter amplifies in light of Calcutta High Court Chief Justice T.S. Sivagnanam's recent statement, affirming that there is no injunction against the arrest of Sheikh Shahjahan, leaving the state police unrestricted to apprehend him.

Subsequently, Governor Bose hinted at invoking his constitutional authority if the state government falters in addressing the concerns of local women in Sandeshkhali, who have alleged sexual harassment by Trinamool Congress workers.
