From grassroots activism to the corridors of power, Bandi Sanjay Kumar has traversed a remarkable political journey, ascending from a modest party worker to the esteemed position of Union Minister of State.
Representing Karimnagar twice in the parliament and presently holding the prestigious role of national General Secretary of the BJP, Bandi Sanjay is hailed for spearheading the party's ascent as a formidable presence in the state. His pivotal role in reshaping the BJP's narrative in Telangana commenced when he assumed leadership of the state unit in 2020, a tenure that lasted until the preceding year.
Renowned for his assertive advocacy of Hindutva principles, the 53-year-old stalwart fearlessly confronted the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration, firmly establishing the BJP's foothold in the region.
Roots in RSS ideological activism:Bandi Sanjay has been an active participant in the ancillary bodies of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since his student days. Precisely, his career goes on to include serving in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at local, state levels and later, in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM).
The roast was not a cake walk, as Bandi Sanjay had to recover from initial setbacks in various electoral contests, such as the Karimnagar Assembly elections in 2014 and 2018. In 2019, Bandi Sanjay won the Karimnagar seat comfortably during the Lok Sabha elections.
Being hailed as energy dynamic, Bandi Sanjay re-energized the state unit of the BJP into a new, rejuvenated life of purpose and passion. Under his leadership, the BJP went on to score impressive victories in by-elections to Assembly segments and significant gains in the polls to GHMC, thus giving the opposition the GOP a run for its money.
Bandi Sanjay's works did not go unnoticed by stalwarts like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP President J.P. Nadda, who had warmly lauded him. Yet, the days were not that easy for him. However, his elevation as the National General Secretary is a testament to his grip on the inner echelons of the party.
And in 2023 Karimnagar Lok Sabha polls, after setbacks in the Assembly elections, Bandi Sanjay came back in style winning the Karimnagar MP seat with a decisive victory
Family: Bandi Sanjay belongs to the Munnuru Kapu community and has been married to Bandi Aparna, an employee with the State Bank of India. The couple is blessed with two sons, Sai Bhagirath and Sai Sumukh.
