Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged on Sunday that the BJP-led government in Assam has been threatening people against joining the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra and denying permissions for programs along the route.
Speaking at a public gathering in Biswanath Chariali, Gandhi claimed that the BJP's actions are not intimidating the people, and he expressed confidence that the Congress will win by significant margins in the upcoming elections.
During the gathering, Gandhi highlighted the nature of the Yatra, stating that it involves traveling for 7-8 hours daily, listening to people's issues, and aiming to raise those concerns. He accused the government of intimidating people against participating in the Yatra and obstructing programs along its route, including damaging Congress flags and banners in the state.
Gandhi emphasized that the Yatra represents the voice of the people and stated that neither he nor the people of Assam are afraid of the government's actions. He asserted that when elections come, Congress will defeat the BJP with significant margins.
The Yatra re-entered Assam through Biswanath from Arunachal Pradesh on the same day. Rahul Gandhi continued to target Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, labeling him as the "most corrupt CM in the country."
