Arvind Kejriwal Claims His Governance Merits a Nobel Prize

Addressing a public gathering in Mohali, Punjab, Kejriwal said, "We worked despite not being permitted to work for as long as our government was there in Delhi. I believe that I should be given a Nobel Prize for administration and governance for the quantity of work I've done in Delhi during my term as CM."

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has raised a fresh political storm by claiming that his administration is worthy of a Nobel Prize. He said this while claiming that the BJP government at the Centre always put obstacles in front of him.

Addressing a public gathering in Mohali, Punjab, Kejriwal said, "We worked despite not being permitted to work for as long as our government was there in Delhi. I believe that I should be given a Nobel Prize for administration and governance for the quantity of work I've done in Delhi during my term as CM."

Kejriwal has again and again blamed the Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena of taking orders from the Centre to hamper the work of AAP government in the Capital.

Strengthening his consistent criticism of the BJP, he blamed the party for hijacking the municipal corporation to destroy AAP's flagship programs.

"You would be amazed to hear that the AAP constructed Mohalla Clinics in Delhi with so many challenges. These individuals destroyed five Mohalla Clinics by sending bulldozers to their BJP-governed municipal corporation. What did they achieve? The municipal corporation destroyed all the government Mohalla Clinics," he added.

AAP leader also asserted that the situation in Delhi has become deteriorated ever since the administrative power of his party has been minimized and the BJP has taken charge.

"Today, the people of Delhi are realizing how important the AAP is. The BJP has deteriorated the state of Delhi. Mohalla Clinics are closing down. The service of free tests and medicines in hospitals has been halted. And filth has spread everywhere," Kejriwal claimed.

He also talked about the most prominent welfare schemes rolled out during his tenure, where he showcased AAP's focus on public service.

"Our government took a decision that each family will be provided with 200 units of free electricity and 20 thousand litres of free water," Kejriwal said.

"In addition, education and healthcare were prioritised," he continued.

Kejriwal also pointed out that his government had revolutionized the national discourse on public welfare.

"We shifted the agenda of debate in the nation. People who used to speak about nothing but privatisation now speak about government schools and hospitals."

Looking at the setbacks in the initial stages of his political life, he remembered the power crisis in Delhi.

"During 2013, I went on a 15-day fast for the power crisis. People would receive electricity bills of thousands of rupees, but there was no electricity," he said.

"I myself used to climb the pole and join the wires," he further said.

His statement has angered opposition parties, who have often accused Kejriwal of claiming more than he actually has done and making false claims.
