Pappu Yadav, who recently merged his Jan Adhikar Party with the Congress, had harbored hopes of contesting the Lok Sabha elections from Purnea. However, during the seat allocation within the INDIA bloc, the Purnea seat was assigned to the RJD, with Bima Bharti nominated as its candidate.
