Advani: Ram Temple Movement Symbolizes a Return to True Secularism, Beyond Pseudo-Secularism

Advani, a key figure in the Ram Rath Yatra of 1990, noted that the movement triggered a crucial debate on the difference between genuine secularism and pseudo-secularism. Despite widespread popular support, political parties hesitated to back the cause, fearing the loss of Muslim votes and succumbing to vote-bank politics under the guise of secularism.

In an article titled 'Shri Ram Mandir: Fulfilment of a divine dream,' veteran BJP leader L K Advani reflected on the Ram Janmbhoomi movement, emphasizing its significance as a symbol of reclaiming true secularism from pseudo-secularism.

He highlighted that the Ayodhya issue, primarily focused on reconstructing the Ramjanmabhoomi temple, became symbolic in the battle against pseudo-secularism. As India approaches the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22, Advani expressed his joy in witnessing the "Ram-maya" atmosphere across the nation.

Advani, a proud member of the RSS and BJP, sees the temple's completion as a moment of fulfillment not only for him but for every Indian citizen. He anticipates that the temple will inspire people to embrace Lord Ram's virtues, fostering India's growth as a global power and a model of dignity.

Reflecting on the legal battle for the Ayodhya land dispute, Advani expressed gratitude for the peaceful reconstruction of the Shri Ram Mandir following the Supreme Court's decisive verdict in 2019. He acknowledged the collective effort of the Modi-led government, Vishva Hindu Parishad, RSS, BJP, saints, leaders, and kar sevaks.

While missing his wife Kamla and former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee, Advani highlighted their crucial roles in his life. He described the unbreakable bond with Vajpayee and the unwavering support he received from Kamla during the Ram Rath Yatra and his long political career.

Advani concluded by recognizing the Ramjanmabhoomi movement as a watershed moment in post-1947 India, expressing humility at playing a pivotal role in the historic journey from Somnath to Ayodhya in 1990. The movement propelled the BJP to national prominence, ultimately leading to the party forming its first central government in the late 1990s under Vajpayee's leadership.
