Earlier, there were 38 districts influenced by Naxalism in the entire nation. Of these, the most impacted districts have now been reduced from 12 to 6. Furthermore, 'Districts of Concern' have been reduced from 9 to 6, and 'Other LWE-affected Districts' have also been brought down from 17 to 6.

The 6 districts most impacted by Naxalism now consist of 4 from Chhattisgarh (Bijapur, Kanker, Narayanpur, and Sukma), 1 from Jharkhand (West Singhbhum), and 1 from Maharashtra (Gadchiroli).

Likewise, the 'Districts of Concern,' which need additional resources for intensive support, have decreased to 6. These districts are Alluri Sitarama Raju in Andhra Pradesh, Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Malkangiri in Odisha, and Bhadradri-Kothagudem in Telangana.

Moreover, the count of 'Other LWE-affected Districts' has come down from 17 to 6, which include districts from Chhattisgarh (Dantewada, Gariaband, and Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki), Jharkhand (Latehar), Odisha (Nuapada), and Telangana (Mulugu).

The Government of India provides financial support under the Special Central Assistance (SCA) programme for these districts, with Rs. 30 crore for the most affected districts and Rs. 10 crore for the Districts of Concern. These amounts are for filling gaps in public infrastructure. In addition, special projects customized for the needs of these districts are also undertaken.

The substantial improvement in the LWE situation over the past year can be attributed to the establishment of new security camps in core insurgency areas and the government's development initiatives. These include expanding roads, transportation, water, and electricity services, as well as ensuring that welfare schemes reach local communities.
