Crime prevention is more important than investigation
-
The entire stretch of road on which the car moved after the incident covered more than one police station area but not one policeman or PCR vehicle, if present on duty, swung into action. A public spirited witness reportedly rang up the Control Room but there was no immediate response of the kind that an emergency call should have evoked.

It is the springboard year for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that will witness the BJP fighting to retain its third term at the Centre and the Opposition wanting to dislodge Narendra Modi at any cost. The fight will be to the finish between Modi's BJP and the rest of the Opposition. Whether the Opposition unites for a combined fight against Modi or individual aspirations sees them divided, remains to be seen. And for the BJP, Narendra Modi continues to be the sole power point.

The countrywide lockdowns of all activities, be they personal or commercial, brought the world to a standstill. Like all others, the entertainment industry also came to a stop. No shootings for films or television, no film releases, no television serials or stage shows. Just nothing. Things started to ease midway through 2021 with a hiccup here and there. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will join the rest of India in making foray into the new calendar year 2023.No Indian state and no community will be awaiting the Prime Minister's political decision in the new year with so much expectation as the state of Nagaland and of course the Nagas in Nagaland and also in neighbouring states of Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine in February changed all that, testing India-US ties like no other issue in recent years.
Year 2022 sets up Biden for 2024, but will he go for second term?
-
Biden's party has historically lost congressional elections in the first midterm of their first term, and by big margins. Former President Barack Obama called his defeat -- 63 seats -- a "shellacking". His successor President Donald Trump also got a walloping -- 40 seats -- but didn't care to find a word for it.
