Actor Mallika Sherawat has urged her fans to discard man-made beauty enhancements and instead adopt a natural, health-based lifestyle. In an open video message shared on Instagram on Sunday, the 48-year-old actress underlined the need for self-acceptance and well-being as opposed to cosmetic surgeries.
Sherawat, who has been featured in movies such as Murder, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Welcome, and more recently Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, was seen in the video without makeup or hair styling.
"There's no filter I am using, there's no makeup I've put on. I haven't even brushed my hair yet. This is the first thing I am doing.". I am posting this video so that we all can say together, 'No to botox, No to artificial cosmetic fillers, and yes to life, yes to a healthy way of living'. I love you all," she wrote to her fans.
The clip arrives at a period when public debate regarding the dangers of cosmetic treatments has heightened, particularly following the unexpected death last week of actress Shefali Jariwala. While no official cause has been reported, her death was reported by some to have been due to cardiac arrest, with renewed focus being placed on anti-ageing treatments and cosmetic enhancements.
In her caption to her video, Sherawat urged her followers to embrace long-term wellness routines. "Instead of running after youth with these fake procedures, I'm cultivating it from the inside out. Eating clean, hydration, sleeping early and exercising are some of the habits I follow religiously. Let's own our natural glow," she posted.
Sherawat's message fits into a movement in which more public figures are calling for self-love, authenticity, and natural means of ageing and beauty.
