Supreme Court took suo motu notice of the tragic deaths of three civil services aspirants in a coaching centre's basement in Delhi, demanding responses from both the Centre and the Delhi government.
Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, presiding over the case, described the incident as a wake-up call. "These coaching centres have turned into death traps," they remarked. "They should either adhere strictly to safety regulations and basic standards for a respectable living environment, or transition to online operations. These institutes are jeopardizing the lives of students from across the nation."
Earlier, on Friday, the Delhi High Court had transferred the investigation into the deaths of Shreya Yadav (25) from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni (25) from Telangana, and Nevin Delvin (24) from Kerala, which occurred at Rau's IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar, from the local police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure transparency and public confidence in the probe.
