Cabinet approves merger of four film media units with National Film Development Corporation of India

The units are Films Division of India, Directorate of Film Festivals, National Film Archive of India, and Children's Film Society. These bodies will be merged with National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) by expanding the Memorandum of Articles of Association of NFDC, which will then carry out all the activities performed by them.

PM Narendra Modi to release PM-KISAN instalment worth Rs 18,000 crore on December 25

The Prime Minister will release the amount at 12 noon on Friday via video conferencing even as the farmers' protests entered the 28th day on Wednesday. This will be the 7th instalment under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme -- a direct transfer scheme for the farmers. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) confirmed that Modi will transfer more than Rs 18,000 crore to over nine crore beneficiary farmer families with the push of a button.
Air pollution killed 1.7m Indians, 1.4% GDP loss in 2019

Economic loss due to premature deaths and illness attributable to air pollution as a percentage of state GDP was 1.08% in Delhi. The highest loss to GDP was recorded by Uttar Pradesh at nearly 2.6% followed by Bihar at 1.9% and Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan 1.7%
Delhi's air quality turns severe, to improve on Christmas

Delhi's air quality index stood at 436 micrograms per cubic meter in severe category at noon. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), 29 out of 36 pollution monitoring stations in Delhi showed severe air quality index reading.

Karnataka imposes 10-day night curfew in view of mutant Covid-19 strain

With this, Karnataka is the second state after Maharashtra to announce a new set of restrictions amid global fears over the new strain of coronavirus discovered in the UK. Speaking to the reporters here, Yediyurappa said in view of the new strain of coronavirus, it is decided to impose a night curfew from Wednesday to January 2, between 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

COVID-19 vaccine distribution to start at IGI airport from January 2021

Three companies which are developing COVID-19 vaccines, UK’s AstraZeneca, America’s Pfizer and India’s Bharat Biotech have applied for emergency approval usage in the country. The Indian government is planning to approve AstraZeneca by next week, while, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin is still under advanced testing phase.
