Self-paid RT-PCR test mandatory for UK flyers from January 8

Flight services between the two countries were suspended on December 22 in the wake of a more infectious coronavirus strain found in UK's population. Th services will resume on January 6. This strain has so far been detected in over 29 travellers in India. According to the standard operating procedure issued by the health ministry, those travelling between January 8 and 31, would be mandatorily subjected to self-paid RT-PCR tests on arrival at the Indian airports concerned.

The Centre had directed earlier to conduct a dry run by all state and UTs on January 2 to test the linkages between planning and implementation, and to identify the challenges.

Farmers to hold tractor rally on January 6 if talks fail

Friday marked the 37th day of the farmers' protest against the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Production and Facilitation) Act, 2020; Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020; and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act 2020. The farmers are demanding withdrawal of all the three laws, while the government has agreed to amend the laws as per the suggestions of the farmers.

The minister made the statement while talking to media after reviewing the dry run of administering the Covid-19 vaccine at Maternity & Child Welfare (MCW) Centre in Daryaganj. Dr Harsh Vardhan also reviewed the dry run of administering the Covid-19 vaccine at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital in Delhi today.

Last month, these services were suspended to stop the spread of a mutant Covid-19 strain which was recently discovered in the UK. In a tweet, the minister said: "India to UK from 6 Jan 2021. UK to India from 8 Jan 2021. 30 flights will operate every week. 15 each by Indian & UK carriers."

Delhi government announces free Covid vaccine for people in city

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain made the announcement while reviewing the dry run of the Covid vaccination process at the Daryaganj dispensary in Central Delhi. "(The) Covid-19 vaccine will be given free of cost to people in Delhi," the Minister said, adding hat the "Delhi government has made preparations to vaccinate 1 lakh people in a day".
8 civilians injured in grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama

Eight civilians sustained injuries in the explosion. They were shifted to hospital for treatment. Doctors said all of them are out of danger, police said. The area was immediately cordoned off for searches to trace the militants.
