Karnataka: Man Arrested for Allegedly Abusing Minor Daughter Over a Year

The 16-year-old victim, who has conceived following the rape, was admitted to the Gadag Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) for treatment.

A 55-year-old father was arrested on Wednesday in Karnataka's Gadag district for raping his minor daughter for over a year.

The police claim that the father sexually exploited his young daughter at home on a regular basis for a period of one year.  The despicable act was committed by the suspect taking advantage of those moments when the daughter was alone while other members of the family were not at home.

In addition, the suspect threatened his daughter with dire consequences if she disclosed the sexual abuses to others.

The accused has been taken into custody and a DNA test is being done.  A case was registered under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Shocking criminal cases were also registered in the past by the state.

After finding out that she was pregnant, a 15-year-old girl in the Mandya district admitted herself into custody in January 2024 after being raped by her neighbor.

As her parents lived in the Kodagu district, the victim remained with her relatives.

Inside Bengaluru's Varthur police station limits, a 10-year-old second-grade girl was raped by her principal in August 2023. It was another gruesome incident.  The alleged principal was arrested by the Karnataka police.

The offender had also presented the girl with a cake as an aftermath.

The child told her parents that she was experiencing a stomach ache on returning home in the evening.  
The child told her mother everything after the parents had taken her to the hospital.

On the receipt of a complaint by the parents of the girl, the police filed a case in terms of the POCSO Act.
