Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa announces resignation in an emotional speech

In an emotional speech, he recalled his legacy as a pivotal member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnakata and delivered a farewell speech after completing two years as chief minister in the present government. It is his fourth term as Karnataka CM. While announcing his resignation, Yediyurappa said that he will be meeting the governor post-lunch and will submit the official resignation letter.

While announcing his resignation, Yediyurappa said that he will be meeting the governor post-lunch and will submit the official resignation letter.

“I have decided to resign. I will meet the governor after lunch,” BS Yediyurappa said at a programme to mark the celebration of 2 years of his government.

When asked about Yediyurappa’s resignation, BJP general secretary CT Ravi said “today, chief minister BS Yediyurappa's second year in the fourth term has completed. He has done good work. He will continue to guide Karnataka and BJP.”

Earlier at the programme, Yediyurappa paid homage to Veteran Kannada actress Abhinaya Sharade Jayanthi who passed away at her residence in Bengaluru.

“Her contribution to the film industry is immense. It is an irreplaceable loss to Kannada film industry,” Yediyurappa said.

Speculations of the new Chief Ministerial candidate for the top Karnataka post has already gotten very thick. “No no. I am not such a big man. Whatever responsibility will be given to me, I will work to the best of my abilities,” the Times of India reported Karnataka agriculture minister BC Patil saying.

BJP leadership will now decide upon the new Karnataka chief minister in a meeting likely to be held in the evening. There are eight contenders for Karnataka CM's post, Times of India reports.
