India is taking a firm stance against what it perceives as bullying behavior, according to Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane. Speaking at the INDUS-X Summit, he highlighted the ongoing tensions stemming from China's military activities along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh.
Aramane emphasized the potential for India and the US to shape the geopolitical landscape of the Indo-Pacific region positively. He stressed the importance of promoting peace, stability, and prosperity in this crucial area.
The Defence Secretary acknowledged the constant vigilance required due to the possibility of encountering situations similar to those faced in 2020. He credited the quick response to challenges along the Line of Actual Control to enhanced intelligence and situational awareness, facilitated by US assistance.
Highlighting the solidarity between India and the US in confronting common threats, Aramane emphasized India's steadfastness in various areas of contention with its neighbors. He emphasized the significance of international support, particularly from allies like the US, in providing intelligence, information, and equipment when needed.
Despite ongoing standoffs between Indian and Chinese troops in certain areas of eastern Ladakh, Aramane expressed optimism about India's strategic partnership with the US. He characterized both nations as key stakeholders in the Indo-Pacific region, bound by shared values and interests.
Aramane highlighted initiatives like the Initiatives on Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET), aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration between India and the US. He also emphasized the growing bilateral cooperation in aerospace and defense sectors, with India increasingly relying on the US for advanced technology and equipment.
In concluding his remarks, Aramane underscored India's achievements in defense production, citing successes in shipbuilding and the development of advanced platforms like the Tejas multi-role fighter aircraft.
