"Troops overheard the terrorists from close range around the LoC, causing them to fire, and it was a full-on firefight now," said one defense official.

The locality was sealed subsequently by security agencies who have established a massive cordon search for identification of insurgents that may have crossed into thick woodlands of their hideaways.

This infiltrating attempt is made at a time when there is heightened security alertness in Jammu and Kashmir, especially after the recent Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people.
