India visit a 'significant success', says Maldives President Muizzu on India Trip

Muizzu told the Maldives state broadcaster, Public Service Media (PSM), in New Delhi, as he was wrapping up his visit, that he was satisfied with it. He thanked Prime Minister Modi for according to him the invitation and said it had been useful for the Maldives and also for the region beyond. “This trip has been a success for Maldives and for the region as well,” Muizzu said. 

Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu termed his official visit to India, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a "significant success" for his country. He returned to Male this Tuesday morning, accompanied by Maldives Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and Finance Minister Mohamed Shafeeq.

Earlier, a statement released from the office of the President of the Maldives emphasized the confidence of Muizzu with the strong relations between the two nations and expected the development of each other with due benefit and successful bilateral engagement.

 “The President emphasised that the strong ties between the two nations would bring prosperity to the Maldives and Maldivian citizens, as he expressed optimism for a successful bilateral relationship in the future,” said a statement released by the Maldivian President’s office, later in the day.

While in Delhi, Muizzu attended a banquet thrown at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Droupadi Murmu later on Sunday evening for the visiting dignitaries, apart from witnessing the swearing-in ceremony.

During the meeting with the visiting leaders, the Prime Minister committed himself to realizing regional peace, progress, and prosperity during his third term and with a vision of having 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. Earlier on Monday, Muizzu held separate meetings with President Murmu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to enhance bilateral cooperation.  “Look forward to India and Maldives working together closely,” Jaishankar posted on X after the meeting.
