India Lodges Protest with US Diplomat Regarding State Department's Comments on Kejriwal's Arrest

India issued a stern rebuke to a senior US diplomat on Wednesday, expressing strong dissatisfaction with comments made by a US state department official regarding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to reports, a representative from the US state department had stated that Washington advocated for a fair, transparent, and expeditious legal process for Chief Minister Kejriwal.

Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy 'scam.'

The case revolves around purported corruption and money laundering in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi government's excise policy for the fiscal year 2021-22, which was subsequently annulled.
