Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan has responded to the criticism after a photo of him, his son with a blurred image of his wife was put out on Instagram.
The photo was posted on his son’s account, in which, Pathan’s wife Safa Baig’s face had been blurred. However, Irfan and his son’s faces were not blurred. This led to a lot of criticism on Instagram alleging the Baroda cricketer does not allow his wife to reveal her face.
To this, the 36-year-old cricketer replied and said “I’m her mate, not her master”, and that it is his wife’s choice to reveal her face or not.
Irfan took to Twitter to respond to the people who were sending hate messages. He posted the same picture on Twitter with the caption, “This picture is posted by my queen from my son’s account. We are getting lot of hate. Let me post this here as well. She blurred this pic by her choice. And Yes, I’m her mate, not her master.”

The Twitter post later received many positive replies and appreciative tweets from many users. Some even applauded the former cricketer’s action to keep him and his family away from unnecessary controversy and clearing everything first hand.
Irfan along with his brother Yusuf, who was a middle-order batsman for India, have been doing their part in supplying oxygen, distributing food and helping with hospital beds during the second wave of coronavirus. Multiple donations have been done via the brothers’ Pathan foundation.
