Global South is about a 'mindset, a solidarity and a self-reliance': S.Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the significance of the Global South, describing it as a "mindset, a solidarity, and a self-reliance." Speaking at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) on the topic of "India and the Global South," Jaishankar emphasized that the global agenda is currently focused on promoting rebalancing and multipolarity to restore the world to its natural diversity.

Jaishankar pointed out that contemporary challenges arise from both old forms of domination and new economic concentration. He reiterated that the Global South represents a mindset rooted in solidarity and self-reliance. The minister also acknowledged the transformation India has undergone over the last decade, enabling it to be an example, partner, and contributor on the global stage.

This statement was made during Jaishankar's visit to Nigeria, which marks the concluding leg of his two-nation tour, including Uganda and Nigeria. The visit to Nigeria followed his participation in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Uganda.
